Which
Card Should I Buy?
All cards are not
equal. Cards have different rates because they have different kinds
of fees on them and so the risk of loosing minutes differs.
1. Cards with
multiple minute rounding and service fees
Example: Nepal-Talk,
Max Nepal, New Max
Nepal, Boston, BTI
-
promise the
most minutes.
-
actual minutes
delivered are much less than what is announced due to different
kinds of fees.
-
because these
cards are the most used, getting through to Nepal, especially
Kathmandu might be difficult during peak times (9:30am to
11:30am, 10pm to 11:30pm Eastern time) or during special
occasions like festivals.
-
best if able
to use up in one call.
-
customer
service of the cards generally do not refund lost minutes.
-
use generally
low quality internet routes to Nepal.
2. Cards with
no connection fee, and with one-minute rounding.
Example: Himtel Rechargeable
-
can make
multiple short calls without penalty.
-
can use the card
over many days without penalty.
-
if the
connection is not good, one can just hang up and try again. Any
partial minute lost is generally refunded by the customer service.
-
getting through
is "generally" easier than those cards with fees during
peak times.
-
more expensive
because it uses NTC to route calls to Nepal.
So, decide
which type of card best suits your calling needs and buy
accordingly. Always read the details on the cards before you buy
them. The details page shows all the fees.
